Mapping for notation

Tze Yeung Ho

working title de takker mørkets gråt på sine knær

For the percussionist, there are two ‘rooms’ in the work: one which is occupied by the tam-tams expansive resonance together with the piano with an open lid, and then one room that is intimate, close to the floor with the small instruments and everyday objects. In essence, the work is a meditation in the mediation between the two acoustic spaces.

Setup presentation

Maia Viken

Keywords: Nature, small sounds, substained sounds

Viual inspiration given by Maia

“Movement in water is something that often catches my attention, as well as reflections in water. The pictures in the folder are of stone, and I love the textures and the complexity – while the stone itself in a bigger picture maybe could be seen as quite simple. I think that is something I would enjoy to explore in this project: the small variations in sound creating a bigger picture, a bigger form or a richness” Maia Viken

Improvisastion with instruments

Sebastián Zuleta

The piece takes point of departure from a previous piece written by Sebastián for prepared piano.

Development of percussion setup has been based on the piece.
